The History

From 1926-1928 the Bass brothers owned W.C. Russell Moccasin Co. following Will Russell's death. G.H. Bass, known for developing the original "loafer" style, certainly influenced Russell's development of shoe patterns of all sorts in the subsequent years. In 1952, Russell released its own Loafer, which introduced several improvements to the newly formed style. Cut on unique patterns ensuring a snug fit thru the arch and around the heel, and featuring our proprietary Overlap hand seam, the Russell Loafer had more in common with a boot than a shoe. 

As we re-launch this classic model we have named it the "B-52", a nod to both the year of its introduction and the boot-like construction we have made it with. Gentlemen, this is the loafer to end all loafers.

The Leather

Made from our classic water-resistant, full-grain Walnut Timberjack leather, the B-52 balances good looks with dependable durability. Over time it will patina and darken to a beautiful deep brown. Condition with Obenaufs or Pecards. 

The Construction

Made as a Single Vamp moccasin on our 77 Last, the B-52 is crafted with boot-thickness leather to ensure durability in the long term. On the interior it features a full pigskin glove lining designed to allow you to wear them without socks. Unique to Russell Moccasin, this loafer has a handsewn Overlap seam that provides structure and water resistance. Designed to go the distance, it features the same Double Stack midsole as our boots for maximized longevity and re-solability. 

The Sole

Imported from England, the Dainite outsole used on the B-52 has long been the gold standard for dress boots and shoes. The studded bottom provides plenty of traction while maintaining a sleek appearance. An Oak leather stacked heel and Dainite toplift gives the wearer an easily re-solable combination.
