Nettles, abundant in the warm lowland areas along the foothills of the Himalayas, are used to produce these very special pieces. The nettle fibre is extracted from the dead plant in winter using traditional methods and ingredients and is a fabulous, versatile fibre which can be used in many ways.

The processing of the nettle fibre in itself is extremely labour intensive and provides employment for many women in the region.
